Over the weekend I got a chance to try out the newest chapter of the Assassin’s Creed series. Now I had read many articles and seen many videos talking about the issues that seemed to plague the game, this is really the reason I held off on playing this long (Plus I was afraid of having to steer more god damned ships). After playing for a few hours I have to admit…everything I read was true. On top of audio issues and pre-rendered cut scenes being chopping and out of sync, the gameplay itself seemed to but EXTREMELY buggy. The original Assassin’s Creed released over 7 years ago, and this being the series 7th title I was expecting the freerunning/climbing and killing to be streamlined…This was not the case. As I walked through the streets NPCs would fall through the floor, walk through walls, and pop out of nowhere. To activate freerunning you hold down one trigger, then to ascend or descend you have to then hold down it’s corresponding button., this would be great if it worked correctly. I would be climbing buildings and out of nowhere just fly off in a direction I didn’t even know existed. In all honesty I would have let these things pass if I wasn’t then trapped in free fall between two different objects that I should have just landed on, causing me to restart the game. A perfect representation of my experience with the game is seen below, created by the hilarious BigirPall.
