Every Tuesday I bring you a new Top 5 (NOW IN PARTICULAR ORDERS!) from the world of Gaming & Entertainment. This week is all about gaming in the year 1989, why you may ask? Because I was born on this day in that year (you an tell where I’m going with this can’t you)…now personally I didn’t get my hands on most of these games until much later in my life, but that doesn’t make this list any less valid…

  1. Clash At Demonhead – Literally only on the list because without it’s existence, Bryan Lee O’Malley would’ve had to use some other video game reference for Todd Ingram’s Band…
  2. Prince of Persia – When you compare this original to it’s successors, it looks like a mess, but a very intricate & difficult mess. Dead ends, precise timed jumps, and no rewind time function, the original Prince of Persia may have inspired Super Meat Boy more than Sands of Times if you ask me…
  3. A Boy And His Blob – I guess in the game manual it told you what effects the different jellybeans had on your blob, but when I played this it came down to memorizing and testing everything out…This was a brilliant puzzle adventure game and I still owned a copy. I never got around to playing the remake but I’m sure it’s one of those impossible to find/extremely expensive Nintendo titles…
  4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Was it the best TMNT game? God no, but it was still fun. One of the first side-scrolling beat ’em ups I played and it definitely made me a fan of the genre. If it weren’t for this game I’d probably never give Castle Crashers & Scott Pilgrim: The Game a chance.
  5. DuckTales – In all honesty I had no idea this game came out in 89, but the fact that it not only tops this list, but is in my top games of all-time is rather fitting. I’ve always been a huge fan of the cartoon, and this game was and still is fantastic. I now own the remake by WayForward on Wii U and randomly replay a level or two now and then…mostly the moon level because WHAT BEATS THAT LEVEL SONG!?!?! Seriously…

Check back next week for another of TimeLordBurrito’s Top 5 only on Space Time Taco. Wanna know what I want for my birthday? Just to know you’re there 😉 Like / Comment / Share all that good stuff, and help support this little corner of the internet.
