  • Agent_Carter_Official_LogoAgent Carter

    • With only 8 episodes to bring Marvel fans and random watches into the history of this expansive comic universe, Agent Carter kicked ass. Probably one of the best series to start off the year, I can’t wait to see what season 2 has to offer next January…(And it will have some competition with Legends of Tomorrow possibly slated for a January premiere as well).
  • JJ_DDDaredevil / Jessica Jones

    • Netflix came out strong with their first addition to the Marvel Universe in Daredevil, and with Jessica Jones rounding off the year we have plenty of quality canonical content coming from this partnership. Where Daredevil had impressive fight sequences and some heart pumping action and thrills, Jessica Jones went with a more Noir/Drama feel…with superpowers. With a second season coming for Daredevil, and 3 more series yet to film, I feel like Netflix/Marvel know how to keep the fans happy. You can watch all of Daredevil and Jessica Jones on Netflix now!
  • 25220One Punch Man
    • Sadly I haven’t had much of a chance to keep up with anime this year. I still have the second series of Mushishi, DuRaRaRa, and Sword Art Online to get through…but the one series I latched on to was One Punch Man. Only 8 episodes in so far, and it may be one of my favorite anime of all time. Saitama decided one day to be a hero for fun…but now he’s reached a point where nothing is powerful enough to give him any problems. Every enemy, every monster, every EVERYTHING he can take care of with one punch…Don’t expect any Dragon Ball Z level story arcs from this series, but expect to be in pain from laughing. You can watch all of One Punch Man on Hulu Plus right now!

    • I’ve already expressed my love for this series in an earlier “Why Aren’t You Watching”, but the series just keeps getting better. Already into a second season (that’s two seasons in a year, how often does that happen?) and I want to see more of these characters and this world. In addition to my feelings on the matter, this show grabbed the interest of my dad…a series about zombies interested a guy who hates SciFi overall (I blame the murder mystery side of it all)…Anything he suggests is usually worth the watch, e.g., Peaky Blinders, Death in Paradise, Lovejoy. You can watch season 1 of iZombie on Netflix/Hulu, and keep up with season 2 on Hulu right now!

    • ACTION! ADVENTURE! EMOTIONS! MAGIC! PUPPIES WITH LASER EYES!!! Does any of that intrigue you? If not, something is wrong with your vision, might need to see a puppy laser eye surgeon…Otherwise this show is for you! Disney has been kicking but with their animated series since the creation of Gravity Falls. I don’t know how to tell you to watch this show more, so just watch the opening and see if that doesn’t instantly make you a fan.

Honorable Mentions (AKA Returning Series that continue to be awesome!)honorable

  • Doctor Who
    • Since childhood this has been my favorite series, and since it’s return in 2005 I have loved every minute, every cry, every story. Doctor Who has always and will always be one of the best things on television, and right now Peter Capaldi is just being the best badass Doctor ever!
  • Steven Universe
    • Running for 3 years now, Steven Universe has been my favorite source of deep emotional animation. After what can only be called a FLAWLESS run on Adventure Time, Rebecca Sugar created and is still telling on of the greatest animated stories, with roots in Studio Ghibli and so many beautiful, heartfelt masterpieces. I just want more…everyday…more…
  • Gravity Falls
    • 2015 will now be the last year for this tale of the Pines Twin’s summer in Gravity Falls. As Alex Hirsch confirmed recently, Gravity falls will end after this season’s finale. It hasn’t been cancelled, or abandoned…by year’s end Alex will finish telling the story he has crafted. Could there be more? Who know’s…(Disney does like getting every drop from their properties) just be prepared for tears of saddness and joy. (This is all based on whether or not Disney decides to give us the last 2 episodes, or hold the finale off until next year…)
  • Adventure Time
    • With season 6’s intense finale and season 7 already well underway this year, Adventure Time is still some of the best shows for everyone. Kids and adults laughing and crying as Finn & Jake learn more about the world they live in…
  • Girl Meets World
    • I have to admit, when it was originally announced that they were doing a spin-off of Boy Meets World set around Corey and Topanga’s kids I was a little worried that it would lessen my love of the original series…Boy was I wrong! Even without the return of many other series favorites, Girl Meets World really brings the original into the modern age. New issues are met head on, and you realize how many from the past are still there…so much that the first season seemed almost like a gender swapped Boy Meets World season one. Now in it’s nearing the end of season 2 and I hope it stays around as long as the original, I want to see these kids grow just like I watched Corey and Topanga.
